Privacy and cookies

Bookmenti is run by Eggvelop ApS (CVR 44287463, Denmark). We collect as little as possible, we do not run ads, and we never sell data. This page explains exactly what happens with yours.

What we collect without asking

When you visit Bookmenti, our hosting providers (Cloudflare and our own server in the EU) process your IP address and request details for the technical purpose of delivering the page and protecting the site against abuse. This is standard for every website, happens on the legal basis of legitimate interest, and is not used to profile you. We set no cookies for this.

Analytics, only if you accept

If you click "Accept analytics" in the cookie dialog, we load PostHog, an analytics tool, hosted on PostHog's EU cloud so the data stays inside the EU. It helps us see which pages help people find books and which do not. PostHog then collects:

The pages you view and the buttons and links you interact with
Your browser, device type, and screen size
Your approximate location (country and city level, derived from your IP)
A random identifier stored in a cookie, so return visits count as one person

If you click "Reject", none of this loads and no analytics cookies are set. The site works exactly the same either way.

Cookies and storage we use

bm_consent (localStorage): remembers your cookie choice for 12 months. Set for everyone, because storing your choice is what makes the choice work.
ph_* (cookie and localStorage, only after you accept): PostHog's visitor identifier, kept for up to 12 months.

Changing your mind

Click "Cookie settings" in the footer at any time. If you switch from accept to reject, we delete the analytics cookies from your browser on the spot, and we can remove the collected data from PostHog on request.

If you give us your email

Some pages let you leave an email address to get notified, for example when a podcast you voted for joins Bookmenti or when a show mentions a new book. We use that address only for the notification you asked for. It is never shared, and you can have it deleted by writing to us.

Your rights

Under GDPR you can ask us what data we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, and withdraw consent at any time. Write to contact@bookmenti.com and we will sort it out. If you believe we are handling data wrongly, you can complain to the Danish Data Protection Agency, Datatilsynet.

Changes to this policy

If we start collecting something new, we will update this page and, where the law requires it, ask for your consent again.
